A day on the river typically begins with a 7am start, followed by the short commute from Greenville to the river, and ends back in town around 5pm. This full day trip allows us to be on the water for eight hours. Of course depending on the season and current water temperatures, optimal fishing may begin earlier or later in the day. If you are on a limited time schedule we can customize a trip designed around your needs and time constraints.
Complimentary tackle including flies, leader, etc is provided as well as round trip transportation to and from the river. Anglers who prefer to use their own gear are welcome to do so, however I will have plenty of extra fly rods rigged up and ready to go. The only thing you need to bring is some weather appropriate clothing and a desire to catch fish!
Limited on time? No problem. Half day float trips are a great way to hit the hottest fishing spots on the river and still get you back for your tee time. Your half day trip will explore a smaller section of the river and allow you about four hours of fantastic fishing on the water. These trips are a great opportunity to be the first to fish the early morning or catch the sunset on the evening hatch!
Whether your a complete beginner or seasoned angler, a day on the driftboat can shorten the learning curve and get you where the fish are. For beginners, basic river entymology, river reading, and casting instruction is included. For more experienced anglers a float trip gets you too the hotspots quickly and allows you a chance to hone your technical skills.
Full day river trips start at $400 including a full riverside lunch, and half day trips start at $250 including light snacks. All trip pricing is based on two. 50% deposit is required at booking.
Nothing epitomizes the true Maine fishing experience like pond fishing. Wild Maine brook trout, the glass like water of an early morning, and the call of a loon equals a true wilderness experience. The Moosehead area is filled with literally hundreds of ponds ranging from as small as ten acres to waters that would be classified in other states as lakes! The easiest and most effective way to fish our ponds is by canoe and i keep canoes at some of the hot spots in the area, the best thing is that many ponds are only a short drive from Greenville.
The silty muddy bottom of ponds are an aquatic breeding ground for insect life and thus buffets for feeding trout. Mayflies, dragonflies, and even caddisflies abound. Action begins very shortly after ice out when the shallower ponds start their warm-up. May and June are primetime for fishing with almost daily hatches of mayflies and the coup de gras is the last week of June into July with the "epic" green drake hatches. Just imagine hundreds of size 8!! mayfl ies with almost every fish in the pond slurping them down!
The best time to fish the ponds is usually early in the morning as well as into the evening. Typically action will slow down during the heat of the day so fishing early and late is the key. As all fishing is done by canoe 1 angler is really the best way to get the most out of the experience.Fishing early or late really allows you more flexability for other activities in the area as well. A pond fishing trip costs 300$ and will generally give you between 4 and 5 hours on the water. Contact me to book now!
